Connectpoint® Captures the #1 prize for “Information Technology Project or Initiative of the Year” at 17th Annual Globee® Awards

GOLETA, CA – June 15, 2022 – Connectpoint announced today that The Globee® Awards, organizers of world’s premier business awards programs and business ranking lists, has named the Connectpoint Digital Bus Stop® the Gold Globee® winner in the “Information Technology Project or Initiative of the Year” category at the 17th Annual 2022 Information Technology World Awards®. These prestigious global awards recognize information technology and cyber security vendors with advanced, ground-breaking products, solutions, and services that are helping set the bar higher for others in all areas of technology and cyber security.

Connectpoint submitted its work with Portland’s TriMet to install approximately 300 of its solar-powered Digital Bus Stop® displays across the agency’s 85 bus lines at highly-trafficked bus stops, transit centers and heavy corridors across the city, replacing TriMet’s current static passenger information.

The solar-powered Digital Bus Stop®, available in a 13”, 22”, 32”, and 42” ePaper display, provides public transportation riders with real-time arrival and departure schedules as well as service alerts and updates. Controlled through its proprietary cloud-based content management system, CPAM™, these bus stops can be updated remotely 24/7. This eco-friendly solution for smart cities uses wireless connectivity including cellular data, WiFi, and ethernet to update regularly and be controlled remotely. Our ePaper displays have crystal-clear visibility day and night that can be viewed from as wide as a 160° angle and from a substantial distance away. The Connectpoint Digital Bus Stop is the first of its kind without any need for electrical infrastructure and while using exceptionally low energy.

“We are proud to be recognized as an industry leader whose Digital Bus Stops have been named a GOLD Award-winner by the Globee Awards,” says Rick Wood, President and CEO, Connectpoint. “Behind this distinguished success is our product innovations and relentless drive to stay customer focused. We believe this recognition from Globee Awards further validates our commitment to our customers and their communication needs.”

What’s exciting about the signs is that they provide real-time information to riders in terms of when their vehicle is coming, how long until it departs, and how long before they can leave and begin their journey on the system,” added John Gardner, Director of Equity, Inclusion and Community affairs at TriMet.  “Connectpoint brings real-time information to low-income neighborhoods across Portland, Oregon.  Not everyone has a phone or a mobile device, so this puts the power back into the customers hands for them to understand how long it will be before their ride will be there, and what to expect in terms of transportation planning time.   Our core value for TriMet is equity and we have done a lot to understand where people live in our community, especially low-income and people of color, so what is exciting about this new technology is we’ve made sure to place it in those communities first.  Because the displays are solar-powered, we have more flexibility to bring real-time information to more people.”

More than 170 judges from around the world representing a wide spectrum of industry experts participated in the judging process. The Information Technology World Awards are open to all Information Technology and Cyber Security organizations from all over the world and their end-users of products and services.

“The information technology industry has always been and will continue to be robust and innovative,” said San Madan, co-President of Globee Awards. “Though the pandemic has changed the way people live, work, shop, and socialize, there is optimistic demand for newer technologies and innovations everywhere.”

Most recently, Connectpoint was selected as the winner of the “Overall Smart City Solution Provider of the Year” award in the 6th annual IoT Breakthrough Awards program conducted by IoT Breakthrough, a leading market intelligence organization that recognizes the top companies, technologies and products that drive innovation and exemplify the best in the global Internet-of-Things (IoT) market today.

Connectpoint serves 26 transit agencies in the U.S. and has thousands of displays in the field, giving millions of riders information each year.
